Zara does Balmain

I’ve been meaning to blog about the new AW ZARA collection since I spotted it featured on the Grazia website a couple of weeks ago. I was bursting at excitement over the ‘store drop’ featuring the must have sharp shouldered Jacket, statement dress (pictured) and shoulder pad top inspired by the fashion god that is Balmain. (His statement shoulder style was labelled the key trend for this season in Elle Collections magazine, labelling the look ‘Balmania’). Sadly although I rushed straight to the oxford street store after work (and on the day of the drop), there was no sign of the jacket, the dress was only available in Medium and the black top had completely sold out, leaving only the white which is arguably as fab but would not suit my off blonde hair and skin tone. I have spotted a few girls wearing said items in street style blogs and they look amazing! really chic and sophisticated. Other retailers are picking up on this trend and sharp shoulders are appearing on ASOS and Topshop, but no-one has got the look quite as effortlessly cool, or right, as ZARA
